bio, don't forget... Susan Desmond-Hellmann and Peregrines- Dr. Robert Garnick knew each other from those early Genentech days as seen from this March 23, 2000 "acknowledgements" 2nd pg. The second link shows just how wealthy each left Genentech and both are not just out looking for a paycheck...
