It seems to me that what used to be two opposing views on JCP (those that claim total failure is the future and those who claim JCP is back from the brink and survives) has now morphed (for lack of a better term) into those that claim JCP survives and now those who claim if JCP doesn't make it "big"- whatever the metric is there- is still a failure. Totally bogus imo and is exactly what the "talking heads" have finally accepted. But, I do agree with you in that the Christmas sales metrics will determine breadth as well as direction- I'm just not convinced that the Christmas sales metrics alone will be the total deciding factor of JCP's future existence.
