Yeah Shail, I agree the Missile Defense Agency is reinventing the wheel rather than immediately taking on SigNatureDNA based on the Defense Logistics Agency's mandate. The way entities in the DoD roll evidently, pardon the pun.

Part of the game. I think we have it. Now we gotta see if the major branches come on board after the testing is completed and Stony Brook signed on by the MDA. Hopefully, they'll just join on. Real disappointed when the Navy's Surface Warfare Center never found anybody for their study.

Yip and Wishful have some posts last spring on the new DODI. VinceM stirred me up back on 11-12-13 suggesting the DLA mandate getting cancelled at any time. We're on track though, Elephant in the room.

As of last May, all service branches are required to come up with something DODI 4140.67. All of 'um gotta get their butts in gear. And it is still awfully political.

From that Foley and Lardner article, I take this synopsis very positively:

....One of the policies articulated in DODI 4140.67 is DOD’s goal of “avoid[ing] establishing DoD-unique anti-counterfeiting procedures.” This is a worthy — and arguably even necessary — goal if DOD does not want to risk driving vendors who offer commercial items out of the DOD supply chain, but the instruction does not make clear exactly how DOD intends to avoid DOD-unique procedures....

The DLA's Mandate and whatever the MDA comes up with (MANDATE, ELECTROSHOCK, WATER BOARDING REQUIREMENTS, I think we're the TOP DOG. They just ain't coronated us. Little frustrating, actually VERY FRUSTRATING.

But we're getting there.
