Storage
Engineering staff have spent much time on the design of the pellet storage facility, from the elimination of all flat
surfaces that could collect dust in the structures protecting the equipment, to the method of placement and
storage of the finished pellets.
In addition to the storage of the pellets the plant has been designed with comprehensive and flexible systems of
storage heaps, which will enable the operator to isolate, recirculate and blend chips from various heaps.
Each storage area has been designed with methods and equipment to control water runoff, sumps etc. In addition
fire barriers and equipment access has been carefully considered in the final plant layout.
There is 400,000 tonnes of storage planned for Natchitoches. The quantity of storage will enable the plant
operator to stock pile significant quantities of wood fibre prior to plant start up, in line with the goal of harvest crew
development. There will be an ongoing inventory of 10% held in reserve pending unfavorable harvesting
conditions.
