I think too there was a lot of resistance by organized gay groups who were employing a lot of people in anonymous testing centers and charging many times the cost of this test strip solution to draw blood and return the results a couple of weeks later.

IMHO you are grossly misunderstanding the genuine concerns of the gay community at the time (but that issue is not worth digging into here.

The important point relevant to the board IMHO is that Dr Seymour had the very rare level of integrity to do what was right against strong opposition from BOTH "sides" of the dispute. (hard enough to stand up against the status quo, but to do that AND also resist those opposing the status quo is truly remarkable! It gives me a great deal of trust in Dr. Seymour.
