As mentioned in the previous discussion, [kicking to start is] an advantage on par with receiving the ball first.

Not true; kicking to start NFL overtime is almost always wrong for the reason mentioned in #msg-94138876. Last night’s game may have been one of the rare exceptions because of the highly unusual field conditions.
