Governor Rick Scott Gets Booed Off Stage By Orlando Soccer Fans
The city of Orlando, FL had something to celebrate on Tuesday night. It was announced that the city would get its very own Major League Soccer franchise. The new team, the Orlando City Lions, will begin play in 2015. They will be the league’s 21st franchise, which is huge for MLS, as not only has it survived since starting in 1996, the league has actually thrived since then. Where there was initially doubt that a professional soccer league could ever succeed in the United States, MLS has proven that it can.
On hand to make the announcement to the city’s excited soccer fans was none other than Florida Governor Rick Scott. Apparently, the highly unpopular Republican governor did not receive a warm welcome from the Orlando faithful, as you’ll see in the video below:
Yikes! I know that Rick Scott’s poll numbers are in the tank in Florida, but you’d think he’d be able to do something as innocuous as congratulating the city of Orlando on getting a new pro sports team without getting booed off the stage. Seriously, the guy must be hated to such a degree down there that he can’t even take part in apolitical events without getting a negative reaction. http://sports.politicususa.com/2013/11/20/governor-rick-scott-gets-booed-off-stage-by-orlando-soccer-fans.html
