I wonder what's the production cost of Opteron and A64? It looks like the idea is to have the slowest Opteron to cost around $200 and the fastest A64 will be $150. So A64 will play mostly in 2000-2400 area and compete with Celeron and only the slowest speedgrade of P4, which might be 2.5 Ghz by the end of Summer. As many Celeron buyers don't know that 2.4 Ghz Celeron is equal to P4 1.8 Ghz anyway, the "64-bit" chip may be a good seller, it just sounds sexy.

I think if you take the xbitlabs review again and compare 1.6 Ghz A64 with 2.4 Ghz Celeron the conclusion will be absolutely different. They just have to take off this stupid 2800 sticker and put a 2400 one.

Did I say, myself, that we should not speak about A64 today? Damn, let's stop it...
