Of course, the changes won’t all come in a day or even a year. But Medicare Advantage Plans – which are highly rated by the seniors that participate in them (such as my Mom and Dad) – are targeted for extinction by Obamacare. It’s proving the old adage that you can’t have something for nothing.



You know why they were so highly rated don't you? It's because Republicans, in their never ending efforts to destroy medicare, passed legislation to subsidized the Advantage plans offered by private insurers at a higher rate than the per-person cost of medicare. It's not hard to offer more services when you're getting more money than your competition. Obamacare eliminated this government giveaway to the private carriers and used the money to close the donut hole in prescription drug coverage and subsidize people who couldn't afford insurance. Yes, you can't get something for nothing but seniors will see their drug costs reduced by about $4,000/year. I'd say that's a pretty good trade off.
