Yes, TI bought Chipcom -

and Chipcon had previously bought Figure8 that wrote Zigbee software. But Chipcon and Airbee certified their chip and software with Airbee software, not Figure8.

I don't know what features Figure8 sofware has but I'm sure that it falls short of Airbee. Perhaps TI/Chipcon is offering Figure8 software in addition to Airbee but I don't have any idea of the volume of each. I only have the impression from year old comment from Airbee that they have 'all' of the required Zigbee features, faster, lower power consumption plus network management software and 'they' consider themselves the best. Of course what else would they say.

Now why do I beleive them? Because from as much as a year and a half ago, several technical types that post on RB had heard the technical details and agreed that Airbee was superior. That's why they invested.

Gman16...We have already discussed this issue in great detail on both I-hub and RB. You can read my comment here on message #827. The bottom line is TI has already authorized the dissemination of hundreds (possibly thousands) of sample packages using ABEW's software to be used with their new MPS430 chip. I checked TI's web site and verified that ABEW is prominently displayed as the ZigBee software provider for TI's chips.

Hope that answers your questions.
