Have you ever heard of the three competency levels? There is the unconscious incompetent, the conscious incompetent, and the conscious competent. Some Psychologists did a study where the control was to give a test to people and to make sure they got everything wrong. They then polled the people as they were exiting and asked them how they did on the test. Their answers were generally 70% and up. In other words they did not know that they did not know. They were unconscious incompetents. Let’s use an example from this board. Spoke the other day gave us the low down on the tech. He is obviously a conscious competent on chips and there production. He knows exactly what is going on and how to do it. He raised my level to a conscious incompetent. I now know enough about chips to recognize that I really don’t know much about chips. I can maybe muster through a conversation about it but certainly I am not a conscious competent about chips. Now lets take the movie or the financing deal. Unless you are an insider you are either a conscious incompetent or an unconscious incompetent. I am a conscious incompetent. I am aware that there are lots of things about theses deals I do not know about. Making any statement about the financing deal or movie deal that produces some result you have dreamed up in your fantasy world without knowing facts puts you in a unconscious incompetent category.

Another way of saying the competencies is. Doesn’t know, that he doesn’t know. Knows, that he doesn’t know. Knows, and knows all about it.

So armed with this knowledge I use this in my every day life. When someone has spouted off about something, like it is fact. The first question I ask myself is what competency level are they talking from. You might be surprised if you start looking in your everyday life at people’s statements that they are talking from the unconscious incompetent level.

So I guess my point is we just don’t know about these financing deals. Anyone coming up with some conclusion really does not know either. This is all about waiting at this point. Back to my earlier post about this being a gamble when I decided to invest in NVEI I knew that I did not have all the facts. I was conscious that it very well could be a pipedream. I liked the story and I felt the potential outweighed the risk. I do have high hopes for the movie and hope it has a great showing at the festival.

I want to add one other thing. I am aware that the long termers were not given accurate timelines and info. Is that the same case since Brad Ketch took over? Has any misinformation come out of NVEI’s office? If not then I think it is appropriate to give him and his team a chance without as much bashing. Just my opinion
