I talked to the Clay county commissioner and the Ala Surface mining commission two days ago, and was informed that they do not permit gold mining in ala. only coal mines are permitted. There is a operating gold mining co in Clay county that owns, and is mining a few hundred acres. They are a small co. nether the less they are mining. If you research gold mining in ala. prospectors left California and went to Ala. and Clay county was one place where gold was found.
