Please read the end of my posts-I am essentially saying the same thing you are in regard to what will drive the buyer.
However, it is my opinion, based on real life, current big corporate experience, that a $100-$150M cash benefit on a $1-1.5B (hopefully at least)is something material enough that the M&A group on both sides will review and will not shrug their shoulders and say, ehh its immaterial-just rounding lets move on. You can bet that ARIAD will try to make a big deal of that attribute when negotiating especially with a Mkt cap of less than $500M right now. At the end of the negotiations its amazing what starts to get haggled over, especially with smaller companies like ARIAD, ie, run as if they were a Mom & Pop sole proprietorship.
