In my youth and ignorance -- when I first started traveling Mexico -- I used to routinely ask for a hotel room with "dos caminos." Fortunately my requests were just as routinely denied and I was always given a room with dos camas instead. (I think I have those words right: trucks and beds.)

A lot of my fellow Texicans look down on San Miguel because it is so Americanized and, truth to tell, I'm of half the same mind myself. But the other half always keeps cutting it some serious slack. I mean, it's not like we've exactly ruined the damn place, is it?

Besides, if there are too many norteamericanos in San Miguel, Guanajuato is only a couple of hours away.

Well, what I started out to say is that you're about my age and I wish your retirement dreams well. The both of you.

OT: Colima is reputed to be nice

3 colleges, a state capital and not far from the Pacific coast. Will be looking at it some on our trip in April - there is that active volcano, but then we don't live to far away from Mt. St. Helens here :).

Thanks for th well wishes. If we do that, we'll always have enough to head back north if we should choose to.
