Good thatch bungalow! Or is it thatched? Not to be disingenious, but do you both speak fluent Spanish? Honestly curious.

Also, do you know if Mexican banks are still paying ridiculous deposit interest rates?

OT: roni - on early retirement

I like your web space. I looked at a few others created by iWeb - there is some similarity in the looks, but overall, IMO, it is a nice clean somewhat elegant look, so that is good.

FWIW, I think you've got the right attitude for early retirement and you will enjoy it. You might want to read the book 'Get a Life' by Ralph Warner, nolo.com. The two line summary - the people who plan and look forward to an early retirement generally are very happy with it. Those that have it thrust on them, or just 'let it happen' because they hit some arbitrary date on a calendar more often go through some tough adjustments.

Simplify - I agree. I can run spreadsheets from now until the cows come home, and never be certain I have enough to live on. But, a simple view says I have a pretty good certainty, and I have some back up plans (downsize the house is a big part of that). I'd rather enjoy life now and accept that limited uncertainty than work for 10 more years to increase the certainty a few % points. My job had turned into something less than enjoyable, so that was a big factor. Like you, I have seen some friends leave us at a relatively young age. It makes sense to me to make the most of the good years we have left. Good luck to you and Mrs roni!
