It's not. AIG traded for less than this as recently as three weeks ago. Stocks go up, stocks go down.

I had sold Nov. $52.50 calls yesterday for 85¢ and just bought them back for 6¢ a few minutes ago. That doesn't make my loss on paper any less, but it's cash I get to keep.
