#146995 RE: PhoenixRising #146970

PhoenixRising, yes people read, but (big but) are they always properly informed?

People also read what is presented to them in the newspapers. I have been following this author's articles for long long time and she has been way way many times right than wrong.

Today I "froze" reading about how "good" certain drug in her article is for treatment of brain tumor (GBM) and it is denied by Ontario's health system.

Is she properly informed?
Here are different views:

The brain cancer study led by Dr. Gilbert, which was also sponsored by the National Cancer Institute, involved 637 patients with newly diagnosed glioblastoma. Those who also received Avastin lived a median of 15.7 months compared with 16.1 months for those who received a placebo.

Perhaps, just perhaps, Ontario Health Insurance Plan is aware that in this case above named drug and cost associated is truly no better than placebo. Sad to see this, thinking, that Cotara if was approved and available, it could be much better solution.
