#6199 RE: smart_sassy #6195

Life has been hectic and haven't been around much myself.

Well, if you're a liberal these days it's probably for the best if you just lay low for awhile.

About 5 years ago I put on a Sun Room to my house (didn't do it myself, however). We absolutely love that room and spend all of our time in there - year round.

Yeah, I didn't put in a traditional sun room though. I extended the roof and added a wall that's about 85% glass. It opened up the house and brought the pool closer. By removing some windows and replacing them with a double wide door I opened up my living room (it also helped that I was able to reposition the couch and TV making better use of the space.

I doubt that I'll spend all of my time in there, though. I much prefer the outdoors.

My fiance has been thinking about building a pond in our back yard. It is a good idea, but there are several other priorities above that. I'll keep you in mind for advice, though, when we decide to do it.

Digging it out was a bear. Lining it was a bear. Filling it wasn't a bear but putting in the little waterfall will be. Frankly, I'm glad I'm doing it indoors. Many more considerations have to be made with an outdoor pond, not the least of which is power, debris, runoff, winter, and preditors.

I have a friend who's giving me the fish (everything should be ready by next week). Those damn things can be expensive! I saw some advertised for $3,500 a pop.

Overgrown goldfish for $3,500.

That's just nuts. (Then again, maybe I can retire on them...).
