Victory Front to increase share of Lower House

Despite suffering setbacks in several key electoral districts, the ruling Victory Front (FpV) are forecast to increase the number of lawmakers in the Lower House, according to early results from Sunday's legislative elections.

The FpV were pushed into second place in the province of Buenos Aires by the Renewal Front candidate Sergio Massa, and look set to finish third in other districts such as the City of Buenos Aires, Córdoba and Santa Fe.

But on a nationwide level, the Kirchnerite front remains the largest party with a total of 32.95 percent of the vote, according to partial results. This would give the FpV and its allies a slim majority in the Lower House, with 132 of 257 deputies.
