No, you mis-understood me. You can write off the loss, talk to your tax man.

You notify your broker that SDVI has no market value and ask them to remove them from your portfolio. When you file your taxes you signify "worthless stocks" and then you claim the long or short term capital loss.

Been there before, so I've claimed worthless stocks before.
