#16620 RE: Dank02 #16614

I agree with you on that Dank. Like a double standard. How do you separate the actual med patients from the smuggler who would use the med cert as their (legal method)to get things through. While my amount was only what I anticipated to use during my stay I was surprised that the 1/2 lb. was let through. I asked how long was his mom staying where she was going and he indicated approx. 2 weeks.

40 yrs use will say that that amt. would not have been able to be consumed solely by that person. Even though if in Wa. state they turned it over to the cops, the cops would have just returned it to the person who had the state approved med cert.

Definitely a sticky wicket for TSA, enforcement of fed laws. What it seems to be signaling though is that TSA's real function is airport/airplane security for protection of harm to passengers while in terminals and while on the plane and that they have determined that the substance doesn't create any direct hazard. Their actual resources are geared toward this (direct) hazard specifically and they would more likely have to set up a new division. Really the function is more of a DEA operation which would require actual DEA agents to provide the enforcement and I think that the feds have sent a pretty clear picture that they are not going to use the resources to enforce this.
