Some of my competition goes under every year, but we are constantly getting stronger and more successful. Sometimes it is just a matter of HOW the business is operated. I think Heddle is also one of those business owners that knows what he is doing, he must be or he wouldn't have the millions on hand to invest.
Heddle is probably quite happy that he's getting a second "bonus" six-figure salary from JBI on top of the one he's already getting for his full time job in Hamilton.
If he's thrifty and squirrels away his extra income, he'll have a nice cushion in case both of his revenue streams dry up.
If he's smart, he'll award himself a number of generous "performance bonuses" from JBI before that well goes dry.
It's nice not having independent board members on the Compensation Committee!
