The issue of patents was questioned

Russell Gocht holds several patents in his own name and just maybe, the company leases them from him. Did you every stop to think about that?

Business is conducted this way all the time. Patents don't have to be owned by a company, they can be owned by people who represent a company performing work under those personally owned patents as well.
