Heywood40 -- I download Investors Business Daily onto my iMac in the form of a 10MB PDF every morning.
Anyway, when I'm talking of slow I guess I'm comparing apples to orange-- my business computer is a windows machine of the same year with the same amount of memory ... it runs circles around the iMac ... I'm able to run java, watch CNN (pipeline) and scroll through the same PDF files without the slightest hiccups.
My iMac is slow because that's just the way it is.
Btw, I just recently bought my wife a new 20" iMac G5 (with 1.5 gigs of mem) about a month or so ago-- and seeing the way it performs I would rather throw this machine away than invest one more cent in it.
...and besides, this machine is 3-years old -- which in my opinion is a lifetime.
