And therein lies the rub. Who is to judge what is inane and what isn't? Certainly not some appointed censor.

We can't advance with more control. We can only proceed through knowledge and freedom.

OKAY--here we go--based on the principle of the blogosphere:

Everyone on this board has their own particular posters who they trust (and probably have membermarked).

Why not have a separate "trustmark" system. If any poster that I have "trustmarked" recommends a post, that recommendation will show up for me when I peruse the message list!

Example: I trustmark xanadu. If xanadu decides to recommend a particular post, I see that recommendation!

I have an idea. How about an Ignore feature and a membermarker feature.

That way you can ignore the posters you dont trust and see the ones you do. Sounds like a good idea??
