Agree 100%. Unfortunately the AFM dictates that the GLIS only needs to operate from 20m to 1000m.

They don't use them for close proximity engagement. The typical use is for hailing warning at vehicle checkpoints and long distance crowd control.

The 1m proximity is a 'nice to have' but not a requirement and likely wouldn't even be used by our military.
