Thanks for the analysis, wbmw. Largely what I had suspected. Remember, for the Atom stuff, the SoC isn't laid out by hand (and doesn't even use Intel's slick in-house tools that are used for Core) but instead uses heavy design automation. Apple's ninja team only has to focus on one product, so they do everything by hand.
....so how big would you say a 2C Bay Trail would be? No way Intel can "flood" the low end Chinese market with 2C "defective" Baytrail parts like aeassa dreams of.
