No problem, I got the info directly. Here's the quote... "We own all our IP and we do not pay royalties to anyone for it." This same source said that while he did not know all the details he believes that back in the early days that the patents were transferred to Nanoco, in exchange Manchester got some shares.

Yes, U Manchester does not give away their IP. They have a separate division to deal with it.

http://umip.com/about-umip/

The University of Manchester Intellectual Property (UMIP) is the managing agent of The University of Manchester for intellectual property commercialisation.

UMIP contributes to the aims and objectives of The University's "Exemplary Knowledge and Technology Transfer" agenda by providing Intellectual Property (IP) management and commercialisation activities:
• transferring science and technology to the market place through IP sale, licence or spin-out.
• reinvesting returns from successful IP commercialisation activities back to the University, for example, through income from the sale of spin-out company shares or royalty income from licence agreements.
Nanoco is listed as a spin-out company so the university got their cut when they sold their shares after spinning-out the company. Probably no royalty payments are due.
