Another large chunk of AMD debt will be retired through conversion in February, and this will already be included in the fully diluted share count.

It's cute that you're imagining 'problems' with AMD earnings. You may want to consider problems with INTC stock as an investment-- it's been flat to down for years, with no sign of changing anytime soon.

I'd go farther than that. After debt payment they need to start thinking about building a new fab and this next one might not be with other people's money. Seems people forget that the semi market is going to 400M in 2009 as per Ruiz (and others). That is, if they want to continue to gain or even hold their market share. It's interesting the 'droids (and the market, too) getting excited about 1.5% market share increase in a market that is growing 15-20%. It seems to pale in comparison. Additionally, I'm not expecting blowout earnings.

One of the things AMD will absolutely have to do with some of its future earnings is pay increased taxes when the loss carry forwards are depleted.

The need to pay those taxes could easily cause about a 20% reduction in net earnings.
