I think it is painfully obvious now that the original photo was indeed not an FPGA board at all, but was instead a bogus attempt at deception.

I think it's painfull obvious this has been a scam now for ten years.

but it still is not the board they describe in detail...
clearly RIM has stated that the FPGA is made up of 6 chips on a FPGA circuit board..
from the rimsemicon website...

Create a hardware prototype using FPGA.

We are now satisfied that our models and algorithms are the best that they can be, and are converting them to the Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) stage. There will actually be six FPGA's, and they will physically reside on a printed circuit board. Our target customers will be able to take two of these FPGA boards, string telephone cable between them, put high-speed data into one board, and measure how quickly the data comes out of the other board. We are planning to ship the FPGA boards to our target customers. The terms "board" and "card" are synonymous. When we refer to the "FPGA", or "FPGA stage", we are referring to the entire FPGA card.

the name has been photoshoped on there for sure, it is fuzzy all around the edges of the hellosoft logo when you zoom in...

so now we have the fake FPGA version MKIII....

born on JAN. 10th, 2006.....

Grove doing the artwork for Rim?

Can anyone read the data on the 3 Intel chips? That might provide a clue as to what this board really is or is supposed to do. It seems obvious that the first board was indeed a fraud and it is possible this one is also.

Spokeshave,

The board is very simular to a part of Hellosoft's WLAN board
