It is definitely a negative event because it wasn't voluntary, no question about that! As of betting on outcome, it depends on situation. I would bet much more than I am now on EPIC outcome if they used lower starting dose, then up the dose for some if well tolerated and response subpar. There was enough dose reduction in PACE and average daily dose close to 30mg for CP patients to generalize, for me anyway. For these targeted drugs, there is lots of room to move dose down from MTD because how MTD is generally determined based on traditional chemo model. This has happened again and again, eventually the traditional MTD approach might be changed.
