The U.S. stayed out of Syria when +40,000 people were killed by weapons/shrapnel because Syria is of no strategic value to the U.S....so why are we suddenly ready to use military action against Syria when 1,000 people are killed by chemical weapons? If the U.S. was so concerned about people dying in Syria, why didn't we moved against Syria before now?

Apparently I wasn't the only one surprised by Pres Obama's comment...there is a prospect, a possibility, chemical weapons will be directed at us. Yesterday a WH spokesperson "explained" what Obama meant - he meant the chemical weapons in Syria "could possibly be directed at U.S. interests".

For a former law professor, trained in chosing his words carefully, the original comment by Obama came across as a Bushism.
