Too bad for them you mean. Although if Microsoft was one of the front runners, and really wanted the company, I doubt the retiring of Ballmer would alter that too much. He did say he would stay for about a year, which is more than enough time to take care of the purchasing of a company. Also remember, Microsoft must have these patents to use Skype in certain countries.
