Real protein and nutritional value in fruits and vegetables have value in a market.
Subsidies are necessary for confused markets that may be subject to weather or trends in the market that devalue real nutritional value.

Here's the bottom line:
Work.

It's the value of production to bring a product to market.
It's the human, animal and land expenditure/cost to feed a population.

Not only do we need to produce a product (any product)
we need to understand the cost to reproduce that product.
Not only that.....
We need to understand the cost to recycle the waste (or the future potential) of product.

With a population growth rate of 1% the total will be a doubling of the population in 70 years.


Anything else must consider a free market as a delusion and Government as the sole arbiter of regulation to provide for population and distribution of natural resources.
