If U.S. policymakers want to push new schemes to replace more of the current fossil diesel fuel supply with non-food-based biofuels, then bio-DME makes far more sense than the natural gas conversion schemes pitched by Texas natural gas seller T. Boone Pickens, McCandless said.
Crucial reason: Diesel engines are vastly more fuel-efficient than engines using natural gas (or gasoline), he said. Plus, bio-DME is renewable, unlike fossil natural gas, he added. – Jack Peckham
