It does not have to be selling machines.
They could have a services business, like Orikin Pest Control.
You have a problem, we come out with a machine, fire-up the mist and vapor,
eradicate the problem..............call us if you need us again.
After several calls and many thousands of dollars later, they determine that it is cheaper to just buy the machine.
No wait time, cheaper, quicker, self reliant.

The services business requires only one machine in a city. Until the demand increases.

So cash will be plentiful between sales of units and services.

I would like to know how much they would charge for such services? If they have even considered that aspect yet.
