Glenn Beck lies about most everything .. we all know the saying 'she/he protests too much' ..
The lady doth protest too much, methinks
The quotation "The lady doth protest too much, methinks." comes from Shakespeare's Hamlet, Act III, scene II, where it is spoken by Queen Gertrude, Hamlet's mother. In Shakespeare's time, "protest" meant "vow" or "declare solemnly". The context is a play within a play, and the Queen criticizes the Player Queen's speech on the grounds that excessive avowal of her plan to not remarry after the Player King's death sounds hollow and insincere. Today, "protest" means "declare an objection", so the phrase has come to mean that one can "insist so passionately about something not being true that people suspect the opposite of what one is saying." This usage of the phrase is based on a misunderstanding of the meaning of the word "protest" as it was used in Shakespeare's day, as the "protest" of the lady is not a protest in the modern sense of the word, but an affirmation or avowal.
well .. before watching the first two of the excellent Chris Rodda videos (others for sure later) i watched again Beck's defense of Barton ..
"Barton also appeared on Beck's show .. http://www.glennbeck.com/2012/08/16/david-barton-responds-to-critics-during-interview-with-glenn-on-gbtv/ .. to defend himself against accusations of inaccuracy." .. from the one you replied too .. http://investorshub.advfn.com/boards/read_msg.aspx?message_id=78745161 .. in which Beck repeatedly declares (think protests) "we are only interested in the truth" .. yeah, we all know Beck's most outrageous oft repeated lie .. it's that he is interested only in the truth .. if Shakespeare were alive today he might write of another tragic figure .. Beck also in the video above most solemnly declares of David Barton .. "i have never seen him close minded to opinions contrary to his own" .. "i have never seen him unwilling to learn something new" .. Beck lauds Barton as ebulliently as any could praise a mother they truly loved .. "i have never seen him insist he is right when the facts demonstrate otherwise" .. sadly, Beck's lies stand as a beacon to truth to so many who need to believe so much it seems impossible for them to question much of anything .. there should be no doubt at all to anyone with a fairly functioning neuron ..
