These rules and dates were set long ago, by a far wiser race than ours.

Actually there are no fixed rules. Some weeks ago when talk of scheduling came up, I suggested the 2nd week of Jan and that put us to Jan 15, about a month after the 1st memorable event. A month between events gives plenty of time find to new selections and keeps a certain freshness to the event, which could grow tiresome if held too often.
As to the rules on the wine selection, the choice by early consent, goes to the person whose turn it is based on their appearance on the board.
I would suggest Feb 12 as the date for the 3rd tasting and I plan to select a Sauvignon Blanc, with the specific brand yet to be determined.
