And that process ended a long time ago. Does not occur any more. If someone doesn't know that they shouldn't be CEO of a penny stock. But something tells me you do know that...but it doesn't help the math does it.
Sure double prints can show up with, for example, a MM executing a planned T-trade to cover a day of short selling to help a trader unload a whole bunch of stock without having to do it in one trade. But to say that the entire volume is a double count is misleading.
You can look a trade list for any OTC issue on any given day. They are not double prints. You can even see odd number trades show up which would not be the case if they "double" the volume to account for a buy and sell in one trade.
Newsflash. The "beginning of time" is long over. FINRA stopped allowing double prints a long time ago. Yes, OTC and Nasdaq stocks double printed back in the 90s.
Not anymore. If you have any doubts about that, call FINRA and ask.
