I too worked at a bank last year for a few months. From my experiences, there is no way they would ever eliminate them. Their role is essential in the nation's economical recovery. BTW, I live in a city that was rated a few years ago as "hit the WORST" by foreclosures due to the housing market crash. Home prices here are rising and rates are affordable. I'm shopping for a home myself if that says anything.
We need to let FNMA and FMCC make their money and pay back the rest of the money and end c-ship.
