chipguy, that is a very good counterexample. I remember when Soul of a New Machine came out, my manager was quick to tell us all about it. It was real publishing success because it transcended details of the particular product to write a compelling story of how technology development happens - any development. It was a lot more than the story of DG Eclipse, and sold because everyone saw their own story in it.

Hammer certainly has had a lot of ups and downs. It makes a much more compelling read than if everything went right. I still think that such a story needs a happy ending to be widely read, though.

As an investor, a little less drama and a more methodical introduction would have been nice. :)
