You are changing the topic. I was talking about whether details need to be given any time any CEO says anything. You are talking about whether CEOs make statements like that in PRs.
I agree that a PR is a strange place for such a statement, but if a company is under a serious reputation attack, it is not unprecedented. It's just more rare to find reputation attacks even attempted on Fortune 500 companies, because they're much less likely to work, for obvious reasons (they're on the Fortune 500, for heavens sake!).
