This retrospective ignores the company’s lofty claims in proteomics (#msg-8990370) but tells the story of the company’s effort to produce drugs in tobacco. Opposition to genetically-modified crops remains an issue in some parts of the world

No doubt there have been objections by luddhites to GMO's. Trouble is LSBC never used genetically modified tobacco plants.

What was bioengineered was the tobacco mosaic virus that then was sprayed on the leaves to produce the desired protein.
