This isn't surprising. Barrick has been doing this for decades and they know how to contain and maintain a mine. They are experts at it. Everything they do is to code right down to PSI ground compacting. IMO, This is about squeezing them for $16M and using 'the potential environmental impact' ' as the excuse.
