LOL..A for effort was an expression. in my opinion, you pass her at a minimum.

My son has been struggling through one of his classes this semester. I told him to keep on trying, show up for each class, and maybe, just maybe the professor will have pity!!!

Actually as bad as he has done, I think he's on the top end of the curve.

Can you just give her a pass and not a letter grade?
