It was supposed to simple, 24-hr deal with one business meeting and one iHub meetup. Turned out to be a bit more interesting.
Got into Vegas around 2pm. Checked into the Wynn, threw my crap in the room, and headed to the Traders Expo. I asked some assclown how far away the Paris was, he said it was two hotels down the strip. So I just walked. And kept walking. Was more like 9 hotels down.
Got to the Expo and they wouldn't let me in. Computers were down. No pass, no entry. Waited for a while and finally their computers were up. Went in. Went right to the booth I needed to, chatted with them for about an hour. Everything went perfect and I made more progress than I had expected. Poifect.
I'm exhausted at this point. Didn't sleep on Wednesday night, was doing premarket on Thursday, and now I had just walked the strip...twice....but I did stop halfway back for a break and get a brownie sundae. <g>
So get back to the Wynn, crashed on the bed. That bed is fricken amazing. I'm gonna find out the specs on that sucker and replicate it at my house.
The guys I met with invite me to dinner. I'm completely out of it when they call me, surprised I even heard the phone.
Go to dinner with a group of 8 to this off the strip tapas place. It's a place where you order a bunch of different dishes and pass them around. There for hours. We were eating all kinds of stuff, some I still don't know what it was. Octopus, duck, filet mignon, diablo shrimp, empanadas, desserts, and about 10 bottles of wine. The bill was several thousand. Nope, didn't pick up the tab on that one.
Met 3 girls that were completely into Matty. My charm was just on for a few hours, I suppose. ;)
Went to TAO at the Venetian. If you are in Vegas and want to get into trouble, go there. Not my type of place. Left a few minutes after I was offered drugs twice in 10 minutes and realized the level of skankness of the girls that occupied the place. Nothing tops Tangerine from last year.
Make it back to my room at some point in the night and I walk in to see that no3putts/Sharon has spoiled me. This was sitting on my table:
Mi favorito beer, with limes, iced down, with a Wynn shirt, a nice note, and Wynn bottle opener. Too cool!
I give her a shout, and a few minutes later she shows up at my room with a plate of chocolate-covered strawberries. Dude!
Now I'm beyond exhausted but I want to enjoy my treat, so I fire up the whirlpool tub, crack open my Coronas, lay back in the tub and turn the country music up. Life was good.
Go to bed, wake up in that bed and contemplate staying another day just so I can sleep until about 3....Sharon picks me up, and we go to breakfast. Have a great breakfast and chat at Peppermill. For those of you that know Sharon, don't be fooled by her laid-back nature online. She's crazy, but in a good way. Tons of energy and fiesty. She's actually a lot like Trixie is in person. Very cool chick and she spoiled the crap out of me at the Wynn.
So, yeah. Vegas was Vegas. Ended up doing more than just the two meetings I planned on and had a helluva lot of fun. That was my first time at the Wynn and I'll definitely be going back. I'd recommend that anybody who stays there get a corner room (a xx66 or xx67 room) -- two sides of your room are windows versus just one. Slick.
