No it doesn't. When they pay a dividend the book value, and stock price drops. You have to pay taxes on the money you receive.

It's not magic.

Three months ago the stock price was 33.12. It paid a 1.25 dividend. The stock price is now 24.44. You lost 33.12 - 24.44 - 1.25 per share or $7.43 per share.
