The Renewable Corporation through its wholly owned subsidiary EcoSmart Surface & Coating Technologies, Inc. receives results from Asbestos Testing

AKE PARK, Fla., June 4, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- EcoSmart Surface & Coating Technologies, Inc. ("EcoSmart") a wholly owned subsidiary of The Renewable Corporation received test results on its asbestos encapsulation process. The test was conducted by Wendy Blasser MSPH, a Florida Licensed Asbestos Consultant with CIH and Environmental Consultants, Inc. from Boca Raton, Florida.

An excerpt from the results of the study is as follows, "It is well documented that asbestos fibers may be released from the surface of vinyl asbestos floor tile as a result of normal wear and tear. This study has demonstrated that the application of EcoSmart's Surface Pre-treatment and Activator reduces the asbestos surface contamination from moderate to non-detectable in one sample and low in the second sample. After application of the base coat the asbestos surface contamination dropped to non-detectable in both samples. It is clear that the surface of the vinyl asbestos floor tile has been successfully encapsulated in this study."

"Vinyl Asbestos Tile" ("VAT") was the material of choice for institutional flooring applications from the 1950's through the 1980s. These floors have now reached the point of deterioration where hazardous asbestos fibers are being released. Until now, to extend the life of these buildings, costly and unsafe demolition has been the preferred method of preventing the release of airborne fibers.
Gary Smith the CEO of The Renewable Corporation states, "Demolition alone can cost $1.00 - $10.00 per sq. ft., not to mention the HazMat fees and high costs of disposal in a hazardous materials landfill. Additionally, the amount of paperwork needed to comply with OSHA, State and EPA regulatory guidelines that vary from state to state can be overwhelming. EcoSmart has developed a product that can resolve this major issue globally in a cost effective manner."

Current solutions including covering the floors with carpet, carpet tiles, peel-and-press and other coverings do not completely encapsulate the asbestos and do not prevent further damage to the already failing tiles and mastics underlying those surfaces. Some of the issues with replacing VAT flooring with traditional methods include: disturbing the existing flooring and releasing hazardous fibers, current solutions have low life cycles and present a high preparation and maintenance cost, current solutions also may not completely encapsulate/encase the surface and other products do not seal existing seams that harbor bacteria.

EcoSmart's initial projects are to seal and encapsulate hazardous materials such as asbestos haunting older government and private buildings. The process will save substantial construction cost and downtime. EcoSmart's flooring system will create a permanent monolithic chemical bond with the existing surface. Application also requires less energy consumption, generates little waste and is safer and less disruptive than conventional processes, as the asbestos material does not need to be removed.
