The valuation in terms of the P/E ratio is rather high, but it could well be deserved. If the P/E ratio does not shrink in the next few years, the almost-assured EPS growth will push the share price higher. So, the question for long-term investors is at what point the P/E ratio will shrink; it has to happen eventually, but no one knows exactly when.
p.s. The above is from the perspective of trying to ascertain whether WFM will be a rewarding long-term investment. If you’re just looking for a quick trade, WFM is probably not a great choice.
