The map was created and is maintained by a shareholder. Why the company can't do that on its own is beyond me, especially since they've been bleating about adding new employees for quite a while. Maybe they don't think helping people find the product for purchase is important enough to dedicate any resources to. They still have a 'list of locations coming soon' page on komaunwind.com that's been there since 2010.
Aside from that, I'm sure the map is unidirectional - stores are added, but never removed. Not every store that has ever carried KU still carries it. An example would be the Walmarts in Myrtle Beach. A local, pro-BBDA shareholder has confirmed the product is no longer available there, but they are all still listed on the map. I'm sure the map also treats 'potential' as reality, at least to some degree. If a chain of stores is announced as a 'partner', I doubt all locations are individually confirmed before being added to the map. Like all the Barnes and Noble college locations added last night.
